How Much to Charge for a 360 Photo Booth at Birthday Parties
Updated November 2026 · 4 min read
Charge $595 for 2 hours of a 360 booth at most birthday parties, and move sweet 16s and big milestone parties up to $945 for 3 hours. Those are example benchmarks for a mid-size US metro; below that, a true cost of about $145 per base event plus your drive leaves little room, so do not chase a 1-hour price.
Two things make birthdays different from weddings: the guests are often kids or teens, and the venue is often a backyard. Both change your hours, your safety settings and your contract.
Price to the age group, not just the guest count
Kids under 12. Rotation at 12 seconds or slower, an adult on or beside the platform at all times, and children who cannot stand steadily do not ride. Every spin takes longer, so a 40-kid party fills 2 hours easily.
Teens and sweet 16s. The 360's best crowd. With only 1 or 2 riders, you can run 6 to 8 seconds per rotation; never faster than 6. Lead with Spin Party.
Adult milestones (30th, 40th, 50th). Shorter lines and more group spins. Two hours usually covers a party under 75 guests.
The rule of thumb is one booth hour for every 50 to 75 guests with a 2-hour minimum, but teens break it: they ride again and again, so lean toward the extra hour for them.
Worked example: a 110-guest sweet 16 in a backyard
The party is 37 miles from your base, 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
- Spin Party, 3 hours (custom overlay with her name, props, standard backdrop): $945.00
- Travel fee: (37 - 30) x 2 x $1.25 = $17.50
- Total: $962.50. Retainer $288.75; balance $673.75.
Your cost: $145 base plus $25 for the third hour = $170. Card fees: $27.91 + $0.60 = $28.51. Vehicle: 74 miles x $0.70 = $51.80. Contribution: about $712.19.
If the parent asks about Spin Essentials, quote the difference, not the total: $350 more buys the third hour, the custom overlay, props and the backdrop. At 30 spins an hour, 3 hours is about 90 spins, enough for repeat rides without a line all night.
What a backyard 360 needs before you say yes
- Level, hard ground: 12x12 feet with no slope. A patio or deck works; sloped grass does not.
- Cover and wind protection: outdoor setups need your written approval in advance.
- Power: one dedicated 110V outlet within 25 feet, not shared with a bounce house blower or catering. A generator must be an inverter type.
- A weather plan: a garage, a covered patio, or an agreed indoor room.
If the family cannot meet those, move the booth inside or pass. A tipped platform costs far more than a lost booking.
Which package should a birthday start from?
Match the package to the party, not to the parent's first instinct about budget:
| Party | Starting package | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Kids' party, under 50 guests | Spin Essentials, $595 | Slow spins fill 2 hours; template overlay with the name is enough |
| Sweet 16 or teen party | Spin Party, $945 | Teens ride repeatedly; the custom overlay and backdrop make the videos worth posting |
| Adult milestone, 75+ guests | Spin Party, $945 | Groups ride after dinner; the third hour keeps the line short |
| All-night milestone at a venue | Spin VIP, $1,395 | 4 hours plus a premium backdrop that suits a dressier room |
When a budget is under $500, the honest answer is the iPad booth at $395, covered in iPad birthday pricing.
Contract points for birthday parties
Guardian consent. Every rider under 18 needs a parent or guardian to accept the waiver. At a home party the parents are usually there, so have them accept on the tablet at the booth.
Platform rules. No jumping, sitting or drinks on the platform, and the attendant's call is final. Ending service early for conduct carries no refund.
Damage. The host is responsible for guest damage beyond normal wear, billed with an itemized report.
Short lead times. Birthdays often book 3 to 8 weeks out. If the party is within 7 days, collect the retainer and balance together.
Questions operators ask
Can I offer a 1-hour birthday package?
It rarely makes sense. Setup and teardown for a 360 run about 2 attendant hours no matter how long the booth is open, and the drive is the same, so a 1-hour price either loses money or ends up close to your 2-hour price anyway.
Should a kids' party pay less than a teen party?
Same price, different settings. Kids need slower rotation and an adult at the platform, which cuts throughput, so if anything a kids' party needs its full 2 hours more than a teen party does.
What if it rains at a backyard party?
Severe weather that stops the event falls under force majeure, which moves the booking to a new date within 12 months. Ordinary rain does not, so agree on a covered fallback during planning and write it into the event details.
Do I need a backdrop for a backyard 360?
Usually yes, or at least a clean perimeter. A fence, a trampoline or the neighbor's garage spinning past the camera ruins the video, which is why the standard backdrop in Spin Party earns its place outdoors.
